CES is the hottest show in town this week…at least in Las Vegas. But, tens of thousands crowd arrive on the anthill of activity that is sure to delight the “must have it” influencers ready to lay down cash to show off the latest gadget. For entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and big thinkers of industry, this is the “Mecca” of consumer electronics. For my peers in marketing and public relations, it’s a chance to forecast how technology will empower companies, speed communications, and change the customer relationship in profound ways.
Now on your packing list for show attendance, you can find one of the most elegant examples of “we have an app for that.” The CES 2013 iPhone app downloads quickly on the smart phone, making show attendees smarter. On the plane to Las Vegas you survey the keynotes, scout out exhibitors, and make notes on your in app scheduler. You watch video pre- and post-event. Once on the ground in Vegas “location marketing” takes over guiding your steps, engaging you in games, and empowering the show consumer in ways NEVER before possible at a trade show. This rocks!
2013 CES Innovation Award winners are listed on the app, but also on the show website. Among the winners, I’m diggin’ the Touch Table PC from Moneual. Mark my marketing & PR savvy word, this will sell like hotcakes. You’ve seen similar tech on Hawaii 5-0 and in Minority Report, but this is deep dive consumer engagement for gaming, airports, restaurants, hospitals!
One of the very young CEO keynote speakers at CES this year is David Lieb of Bump Technologies. Imagine using your Bump app to connect with the Touch Table PC at your favorite restaurant to share you customer survey on Facebook with 300 of your close buddies. Now that’s marketing!! I want to do their PR! …hope the paperless restaurant keeps the napkins… 🙂
Excuse me, I just received my CES iPhone alert that the next keynote is about to start. More later.
What’s your favorite CES hot tech?
