The Provo-Orem ValleyThe Provo-Orem area in Utah County has received a lot of attention the past few years. It has been noticed for being small business friendly, having low business cost, being good for business and employees and for being one of the best places to live. All this attention over the past few years has put Provo on the map – and it has done it again. The Provo-Orem area ...

Daily Herald Gets Online Media Wings, Prepares to Fly to New Location

The Daily Herald and I go back 16 years to it’s first print edition delivery on my doorstep. I was a new recruit on Eric Schmidt’s Novell public relations team at the time. We’ve had a love/hate relationship since then as the Utah Valley staple rides the roller coaster despised by print newspapers over the past decade. ...

USU, UofU & BYU – Give Roman a shot!!!! Maybe he’s the next Ziggy in NCAA football

Today’s Daily Herald article on Roman Wendelboe lays out a compelling story of an immigrant child seizing the American Dream to excel academically with dreams of the NCAA football gridiron. I pitched this story to the Herald after hearing of Roman’s Utah High School Hall of Fame induction a couple of months ago.  His story inspires me so.

‘Ziggy’ Ansah made us love him with his path from Africa through

BYU to the NFL. Unassuming, innocent, and driven by ...

Wouldn’t it be fun to do the public relations (PR) for Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah, the Detroit Lions 1st round NFL draft pick. The new football version of the Ziggy brand is a rising star story made for Hollywood, ala The Blind Side. Never playing American football until about three years ago, this lion traveled an unlikely trail from Africa to Provo, Utah where he became a “defensive dominator.”

As the 5th pick in the 1st round, the Ziggy brand is ...

Hats and Helmets off to Y Mountain / BYU

Y Mountain and Brigham Young University (BYU) first came into my view as a new missionary riding a bus into Utah Valley  in 1980. The giant letter, taller than a football field length, seemed a homecoming beacon leading me closer to that day’s destiny  – the MTC. The immaculate BYU campus unfolded before me that day and left an indelible impression.

The Y next entered my life as ...

College Entrepreneurs Rock – even under water…

…And the judges say Underwater Audio is #1 among the Utah Student 25 entrepreneurs for 2013.  What Captain Nemo of Jules Verne’s 20k Leagues Under the Sea would have given for one of  these? More recently, I wonder how Michael Phelps would look jammin’ with this in the pool?

Underwater Audio takes iPod Shuffles from Apple and waterproofs them using a unique, proprietary process. Swimmers love how Underwater Audio’s waterproof iPod makes those boring laps fly by! In less than two ...
