Environmental PR – New Client – Fish, all of them!

Environmental PR Primer:

Quick! What’s rising faster than the cost of healthcare? If you said fish prices, you could be right. Rising 8-20% per year, seafood costs are out of control. So, I volunteer to do a little public relations for the fish, some Green PR , if you will.

Here’s a sampling what is fast become unaffordable for the average consumer from my local grocer this week:

Where is Green PR Going – Who Defines It? What is Green Sucess?

In Public Relations and communications words matter. This may seem self evident, yet, we see huge differences of opinion and great chasms open, due to vast variation of definition. Take the the term “healthcare tax” for example. The fist fight over definition on this one went through the Supreme Court and still enters “extra rounds” as the Obama Administration tries still ...

Should Socially Responsible (CSR) Companies Toot Their Own Horn?

A recent article in Corporate Responsibility Magazine caught my eye.  It addresses well the dilemma faced by every good corporate citizen. Here’s an excerpt on the benefits of CSR recognition:

Recognition and lists are a ...

Which Avenger is the Best Entrepreneur? Best PR client?

Which Avenger is the most entrepreneurial? I vote Tony Stark. He brings hot products to market.  Although, in my public relations work, I would likely most want to represent Captain America.  Perhaps he’s less of a wild child and a better role model than Tony. Although the Hulk has that whole Green PR angle. The whole group collectively has a real social responsibility (CSR) thing goin’ on, don’t you think?

Earth Day – Hats off to People Helping People

The so-called “Triple Bottom Line” of Green, which I first heard years back from Vinod Khosla, is People-Planet-Profits. On Earth Day, we focus most of our attention on the Planet component. However, this year I would like to step outside the box to remind us of the People component of Green.

The story goes, in many religions, that a man named Adam was ...

77 cleantech acquisitions in Q1 2012. $1.81 billion in VC capital invested in 185 cleantech startups in Q1 2012. In dollars, this is less than Q1 2011. By number of deals, this is up from Q4 2011. So, is Clean-Tech on its way back up among investors? Is yo-yo federal policy slowing it down? Whaddup?
