Three Emerging PR Trends of 2018

With 2017 behind us and a year full of promise in 2018, public relations trends are shifting. Each year as milestones are reached and failures are splattered across news stations, the overarching trend of the role public relations plays is becoming more and more existent in our culture.

More people becoming aware of the team of professional communicators on the other end of that press conference speech or of the witty minds behind the now 280 characters of Twitter.

The paths of generations are crossing and the trends are evolving as we work together to build that bond between our client and ourselves (the people).

As we enter into 2018, let’s take a look at the emerging PR trends to be on the lookout for in planning all of our communication strategies.

  1. Your brand is your lifeline. Maintaining a positive, influential, powerful brand is the key to keeping your business a success. The power of authenticity has never been more relevant. Establishing a strong, prevalent brand in this society is what will take you and your team to the end.
  2. Influencers are truly monumental in reaching every level of consumers. Choosing the right influencer is key. Making sure they align with the brand you are creating and keeping things authentic, without the image of paying off an influencer to mention your product. Consumers believe who they trust– give them someone to trust.
  3. Striving for an impact with through multimedia. Press releases work, but putting forth the extra foot to converse on all different platforms is key to establishing a good PR strategy. Consumers will read your press release… through Twitter, maybe Facebook and possibly even LinkedIn. Dive deeper into transforming your press release for all multimedia aspects.

The trends in PR are changing daily and it’s hard to keep up with what people want, need and search for. But, keeping a strong brand with an authentic message will help you emerge to the top.

PR is more than a staged event to gain a following, it’s more than placing a few words on the front page– PR is about creating relationships with those you want to pay attention to you. Those two-way relationships will go a long way– build a stable brand, choose influencers wisely and transform your press release.
