Veterans Day – Thanks Dad

Happy Veterans Day!

While the BBQ is grilling and the children frolic in the sprinkler, let us remember.

My father served as a US Navy pilot from 1945-1970. In WWII, Korea, Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam. Thanks to him and all like him who gave and gave so we might be free. Let us be wise with that freedom.

When I see the flag raised or draped over a coffin, I remember. I hope we all remember

Ever since I heard it at my father’s graveside, I am deeply moved by the 21 gun salute. I hope we all remember

Thanks Dad

So many Memorial Day activities inspire me. We went to a SCERA shell concert of All 4 One that evening. A lump caught in my throat as the retired veterans, some with the gimpy step of old age, unfurled the flags of each branch of the military. Very inspiring.
